GERTRUDE KEARNS            

VISUAL ARTIST            

Since 1991 Toronto artist Gertrude Kearns has focussed on conflict and the play of conscience in war scenarios. Her work is being collected by the Canadian War Museum as of 1996. A recent 2006 contract with the Department of National Defence took her to Afghanistan embedded with the troops in Task Force Afghanistan Rota 0. Having completed this set of six acrylic canvas works, she will realize larger canvasses over the next two years as an extension of the theme.
